My Watch Story

The Coup Watch Michael Kors Swatch Skin Invaluable

Time; what a concept. It has always amazed me how younger generations spend their days wishing away their adolescence  while adults try to hold on to it with the same conviction. Thinking about it, it’s quite bizarre, no?

For me, timepieces are important and with the variety available on the market, nowadays they can be as beautiful as they are practical. My jewellery stand is adorned with roughly ten watches. You may say that that’s not a lot you say but for a person that gets a certain level of satisfaction from not being a hoarder, we can say that a score is a fair few.

About 2 weeks ago, we at The Coup were approached by Invaluable, the World’s largest online auction place. They wanted to know the story behind our favourite timepieces and, likewise, if  they held any sentimental value? This got me thinking.

I like all my watches but choosing my favourite was not as easy as I expected it to be. I can settle on two that I like and, although they couldn’t be further afield in terms of style, they do have one thing in common. Strangely enough, both were purchased abroad. Perhaps it’s the fact that they transport me to that happy, zen-like mood you typically feel whilst holidaying; I don’t know.

The Coup Watch Invaluable Michael KorsThe first one is my classic Michael Kors ; bought in Germany exactly two years ago to the month. I doubt any of you will be surprised that this watch has made it into my favourite two. I was once told that there are 3 things a woman should own. I won’t disclose what all three items were but a classic MK watch did top the list. It makes a statement whilst keeping it classy to say the least.

A tad more peculiar in style, however, is my favourite; my SKIN Swatch watch. This was also purchased abroad; in Geneva, Switzerland, to be exact. I imagine that this choice will strike you, it took me by surprise too, but in all honesty, this is the one that I opt to wear almost everyday. Perhaps it’s its understated delicacy that does it for me. Or maybe, it’s the fact its comfort, alongside its character and quirkiness,  ticks the right boxes. Who knows but then again who cares? I like it and that’s all that matters right? Right.

Comeback Season: Orange is the new black!

Better late than never but never late is better I know, but, ‘it’s been a while’ is an understatement! The good girls here at the Coup have done a sterling job keeping you Coups and Coupettes up to date and ahead in this wonderful world we call Fashion. However, just as the old seasons fade and the new ones bloom, I’m back to brighten up the days.

Although I’ve been away, the shopping never stops! On many occasions, I tried and tried and tried to resist temptation and stay clear of the high street. It worked, until I saw this black velvet two tone bomber jacket with leather sleeves from Zara.

It was paid for and packaged (all in my head) before I had even tried it on! It was a ‘must have’ as soon as saw it.

I wore a pair of black ripped skinny jeans from Zara to compliment the bomber jacket.

Now finding these Orange Patrick Mohr Kx1 (sold out everywhere) trainers was like trying to mine gold in England. Search upon search, avenue upon avenue and one lead after the other, I kept coming up with nothing. I finally got my hands on a pair and parted with a lot of my money but it was money well spent! Last but not least, I accessorized with a Michael Kors  black chronograph silicone strap watch.

Hey Livi!

IMG_3355Nothing beats a good ol’ watch. Practical, purposeful and (bonus!!) pretty as hell when it’s made by British brand Olivia Burton London .

I first ‘clocked’ this watch (gedd’it?!) about a week ago on fellow Kenzas’ blog. As an avid watch-wearer I have a decent collection that seems to be growing in size swiftly. I’ll give you a sneak peak some time soon. For now though, say hello to my latest addition…

White leather combined with rose gold to emulate a timeless, vintage look. For me, the combination is simply stunning. And… a perfect transitional summer piece. What d’ya think? I think I’ll be putting Michael aside for the next few weeks!

Wild Zebra

jennings-larrson-swedish-british-zebra-leather-fashion-watcI love a good watch. For me wearing a watch is a must with every outfit. Often they are all too hard to find but I’m seriously lusting after this stunning Larsson and Jennings creation. Aptly named Wild Zebra, this one is part of the limited edition Safari Series. To buy or not to buy…!

Outfit – White Gold

IMG_0174 The gold rush is back and I’ve found my treasure! It’s been a while since I last donned some neck pieces but the urge is back and the word id GOLD.IMG_0180

As I’ve said before, every well dressed man should always wear a watch, but that watch needn’t put a dent your pocket. I opted to go with a classic piece for this outfit and wore a Casio watch. Cheap and cheerful, ever so reliable and always fashionable.

I’ve got an addiction for crisp, clean looks and I’m a fiend for a plain white shirt. Modeling this textured cotton slim fit shirt from Zara has left me feeling so fresh and so clean. Blurred Lines seems to be the summer anthem but thankfully I can’t relate because I have on my 3D spectacles making my views spec-tacular. I simply removed the lenses and Bobs your uncle……. you know the rest. 2 Chainz isn’t the only person with 2 chains (although there’s hardly a comparison in size and in price) as I too have one neck and 2 chains. Bought from ebay, they’re the best buy, accessory wise, for me this summer.
IMG_0189 This is a Zara inspired outfit as I’m decked out from head to toe in their merchandise (they should really start paying me!). Playing it safe, I’m wearing black circular trousers.
IMG_0208 IMG_0217 IMG_0232 IMG_0237These are the latest addition to my shoe collection. Black Monk strap shoes from Zara. Unfortunately no monk-like behavior resulted from wearing these, although, the only meditation I wanted to practice, was being at one with some laminate flooring, shuffling from side to side underneath a disco ball.

Ctrl, over and OUT!

I’m wearing;

White textured shirt (old but similar) – Zara

Black circular trousers – Zara

Black monk strap shoe (old but similar) – Zara

Gold Casio A159WGE watch (old but similar) – Casio

Gold snake link chain – ebay

Anyone who knows me will be able to tell you that I’m totally ‘watch crazy.’ From silver to gold,  leopard print, black and even rose-coloured leather straps; you name the style, I can guarantee that I’ve either had it or a worthy alternative.

But I’ve had my eye on these Michael Kors treasures for a while now and I’m having a pretty hard time deciding which one should be my next investment. Fancy feeding my addiction by helping me chose? All comments are welcome – which one do you think should be my next purchase?
