Ode to Nikey

Air Max Thea Nike_edited-1Air Max Thea – Pair One here // Pair Two here

My Monday fix! Hmm cute right? My fetish for Nikey’s hasn’t gone away since I bought these last winter. I’ve told myself that I’m going to be good this year and not buy more than one or two pairs. I have quite a few that I rarely wear so only I’m taking the stance of only conscientious shopping from now on. Haha, well I can at least try anyways right… Really feeling these black Air Max Thea’s by Nike. I bought an orange pair a few months ago; remember these? I now need a new pair to see me through winter but I think it’s time to tone it down a little. Really like the bottom pair, the ones on top are cute too. We’ll see which way I swing!

Natural November

It’s been a while. In fact, more than a while. A month to be precise. Totally an unplanned absence. It started all with a bout of flu, and then my return to university shortly after. It’s a lot easier to keep on top of things when you’re in the swing of it all. But taking a break makes it all that more trickier. With that said though I’m now back.

Do you notice anything different? Something small perhaps? No silly, not the hat! :) I got some braids put in my hair for ‘Natural November’. Obviously this isn’t all my hair but I thought I’d give that natural-esch look a go. If I were to leave my hair completely natural I’d be rocking a Kelis-like afro. Cute but not practical with this weather. I’ll post some more photos for you later!

Outfit – What a Mock’ery?!

Variety is the spice of life and the best spices always seem to be red. So I’ve decided to spice up my style! Coming out of hiding and being christened for the very first time, the Mocks have finally seen daylight.

What I like to call ‘a sophisticated pair of jelly shoes’, Mocks are made of rubber with its USP being a scented insole (helping to retain their fresh scent). These Mocks are so versatile. They are waterproof, can be worn on the beach, around the pool and can even compliment a casual look as I am demonstrating here.

Dressed in a white Mao collared shirt (if it ain’t white, it ain’t right) from H&M and blue trousers courtesy of Zara’s ‘Black Tag Collection’ which compliment my Mocks perfectly.IMG_7415

Every well dressed man should always wear a watch (words from my Mother), which is an accessory no man should go without. With that in mind, today I’m wearing my Jasper Conran black ceramic watch, accompanied by a black shambala bracelet and black studs.

And that’s how I get down.

Ctrl, alt and OUT!

We love… Carlotta Oddi

Anna Dello Russo’s assistant, Carlotta Oddi, has been getting snapped by street style photographers quite a lot over the last year and all for the right reasons. Carlotta has an easy sweet girl style with elements of a rock chick. I am loving her choice of accessories, geek chic glasses on and she is ready to go!

What Santa brought this Christmas…

I must have been a very good girl last year- Santa spoiled me!
My  favourite presents include The Sartorialis ‘Closer’ book by Scott Schuman. Great for getting some fashion inspiration from worlds best collection of street style photography.

And these two beauties! Clutches from Primark (left) and Miss Selfridge – perfect for my monochrome wardrobe!

We love… Joan Smalls

There is nothing more that I love than a girl who can pull off statement pants. Oh yes, she is Joan Smalls, a Puerto Rican model. Self described as having a bit of a bipolar personal style, Joan can rock pretty much anything. One day she is a vixen dressed in all black, the next she is a vision of elegance. Here are our favourite looks!

The Grey Concept by H&M

H&M seems unstoppable these days. The forever evolving Swedish brand knows its customers relaxed and chic style. Their new Divided collection ‘The Grey Concept’ taps into just that. Consisting of classic irresistible grudge items such as black leather jackets and asymmetric tees , this collection is a mix and match heaven! You can also pick out some basics such as grey cardigan with hood that will inject a touch of cool into what you have already. Check out the full collection here.

Trend Alert – Oversize Me.

Most girls I know are pretty scared of sporting oversized items and I don’t exactly find this shocking. So I’m pretty sure that like me you’re feeling a little thankfully for the rise of the oversize this fall.

If I had to chose three words that best illustrated what ‘oversized fashion’ is all about, I’d chose big, bold and bossy. To help maintain that trendy look this fall, I really do suggest that this is the one trend you don’t ignore! For one, it’s really comfortable, looks fierce and, bonus,it’ll keep you warm. We’re not just talking about clothes here to; ‘oversize’ is taking over scarfs, jewellry and bags too.

Choosing the right items to pair your oversize garments will help accentuate your look. A word of advice; always think opposite. Oversize trousers & fitted top. Oversized top & either a pencil skirt or tailored trousers (ankle trousers too!). You get the idea. Remember, what you want to do is compliment the other section. Now go on, try something new today.

Items, from left to right,

Mohair Oversized Wool Jumper – Mango; Anna Dello Russo Bracelet – H&M; Contrast Sleeves Masculine Coat – Mango; Anna Dello Russo Earrings – H&M; Palazzo Pants – Ministry of Retail; D-Frame Acetate Sunglasses -Michael Kors; Oversized Clutch With Bow – Miss Selfridge; Women’s Tulle Skirt – Rundholz; Tall Oversized Blossom Tee – Topshop; Oversized Spot Tights – Pamela Mann; Blue Oversized Shirt – MiH; Anna Dello Russo Leather Boot – H&M; Sparkle Jewel Long Pendant – Accessorize;  Montpellier – Kurt Geiger

We love…Liya Kebede

This week we are loving Liya Kebede. Ethiopian model, sustainable-clothing designer, humanitarian and actress has an impeccable style. She is not afraid to play with colour and volume, and she always gets it right! Never over-styled and always effortless, Liya, mother of two, chooses simple, slightly boyish pieces to either get her through a busy day or to make an appearance on the red carpet. You can never expect what she will wear next and thats why we love – Liya Kebede!

Ottoman Hands

Vogues Fashion Night Out helped bring a lot of boutique designs to the forefront of Londons most prominent shopping district – Oxford Street. It was here that I first noticed Ottoman Hands – a Turkish jewellry boutique house. Those behind the Boutique select unique gems and work closely with local, skilled artisans to help refine and retain the beauty of Ottoman gems. Craftying these gems in a unique way, Ottoman Hands aims to create affordable yet one-of-a-kind exclusive pieces. With jewels that are best worn to jazz up everyday outfits, these gems promise to inject rare beauty into any outfit. My favourite pieces are these earrings; they are simplistic yet dazzlingly. I love them! Check out the res of the Ottoman Hands range here.

Mirror Mirror: London Fashion Weekend

As girls behind The Coup, we’ve decided to share what we wore to London Fashion Weekend with you. Here goes!

With so many ‘hot’ trends around this fall, we thought that it was best to hit Westfield Shopping Centre and let the shops inspire our look for London Fashion Weekend. Zara, Pull and Bear, Mango; there were so many shops to choose from, but in the end I had to go for this ‘Casual Luxe’ combo that I put together in Topshop.

I dolled up my comfy, casual knit with this heavily embellished sequinned skirt.  As there was quite a bit going on with the sequins, it was only right that I neutralised my look with a pair of nude coloured stiletto heels. My jewellery was a concoction of Swarovski crystals, Gucci, Links of London and beautiful beads, straight from India. Chic, comfy yet luxurious; how could I resist?

Items: Knitted Rib Clean Jumper, £38; Silver Sequin Mini Skirt, £45; Romelia, £70; Gerke, £40; Swarovski Tennis Bracelet, £98; Gucci Bracelet with Boule Chain, £125; Gucci Necklace with Boule Chain and Toggle Closure, £170 Swarovski Ring – old.

As one who loves black, it’s no surprise that it was the first colour I reached for when choosing my outfit. So, for an afternoon at Somerset House I centered my look around my Oasis faux leather mini skirt. I paired it with a black satin vest, long waterfall coat from River Island and accessorized with gorgeous leopard pumps and a matching mini messenger bag. As for jewellery, I kept it minimal with a gold bangle and one gold ring. With red lips and nails to match –  it was classic shade for a classic style! It was simple look but the difference in textures is what made it work for me.

Items: Oasis faux leather ‘Harper’ flippy skirt, £40Oasis vest, £20Zara animal print medium heels, £49.99Zara mini fake fur messanger bag, £29.99; H&M bangle, similar one here, £4.99; Gold ring- vintage.

We love…Eleonora Carisi

Eleonora Carisi is a store owner and a fashion blogger from Italy with an impeccable style. She is a regular of Milan Fashion Week as a IT Girl for Grazia.it and you might remember, famous for wearing that sheer blouse with no bra to a lunch in Upper-East side…(i know!) which prompted many fashion discussions on a matter of ‘fashion etiquette’.

We love her colourful and girlie style. Never afraid to try wacky accessories and always accentuating female form.
