I love the way I feel on those rare moments that I choose to troll through our blogging archives. Neither me nor Elena are majorly sentimental but still, the visual aids do have an effect. I turned 27 today and I’m seriously wondering where the year went. Actually, the past couple years: it seems as though time is just flittering away. Either way, here’s to the next year and those that follow…
Over the past 6 months, fitness has become a big part of my life. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve always loved working up a sweat but in between studying and running a f/t job, committing to a work routine just wasn’t feasible. Since finishing uni last year however, it was the next thing on my ever growing ‘to-do’ list. Last Wednesday I forgot to pack my usual leggings so I popped into the shops en route the gym. I was pleasantly surprised to find a number of ladies shorts now available so I picked up these instead. I’ve always been one to get my pins out when possible. Next on my list? Those abs.
Time; what a concept. It has always amazed me how younger generations spend their days wishing away their adolescence while adults try to hold on to it with the same conviction. Thinking about it, it’s quite bizarre, no?
For me, timepieces are important and with the variety available on the market, nowadays they can be as beautiful as they are practical. My jewellery stand is adorned with roughly ten watches. You may say that that’s not a lot you say but for a person that gets a certain level of satisfaction from not being a hoarder, we can say that a score is a fair few.
About 2 weeks ago, we at The Coup were approached by Invaluable, the World’s largest online auction place. They wanted to know the story behind our favourite timepieces and, likewise, if they held any sentimental value? This got me thinking.
I like all my watches but choosing my favourite was not as easy as I expected it to be. I can settle on two that I like and, although they couldn’t be further afield in terms of style, they do have one thing in common. Strangely enough, both were purchased abroad. Perhaps it’s the fact that they transport me to that happy, zen-like mood you typically feel whilst holidaying; I don’t know.
The first one is my classic Michael Kors ; bought in Germany exactly two years ago to the month. I doubt any of you will be surprised that this watch has made it into my favourite two. I was once told that there are 3 things a woman should own. I won’t disclose what all three items were but a classic MK watch did top the list. It makes a statement whilst keeping it classy to say the least.
A tad more peculiar in style, however, is my favourite; my SKIN Swatch watch. This was also purchased abroad; in Geneva, Switzerland, to be exact. I imagine that this choice will strike you, it took me by surprise too, but in all honesty, this is the one that I opt to wear almost everyday. Perhaps it’s its understated delicacy that does it for me. Or maybe, it’s the fact its comfort, alongside its character and quirkiness, ticks the right boxes. Who knows but then again who cares? I like it and that’s all that matters right? Right.
See here for watches available at Invaluable.
Some extra pics from Friday’s sneaker shot as promised. True to the name of this post I kept it casual, threw on a plain long sleeve tee and a light bomber coat paired with boyfriend jeans. SNUG! On another note, I hope you guys are having a great weekend. So far mine has been pretty cosy. I gym’d it on Friday night and again yesterday, which was an absolute killer! Me and El had a 2 hour session with our personal trainer. It was so hard but so, so good! I’m paying for it now though…
Enjoy the rest of your weekend and Happy International Women’s Day to each and every single one of you ladies out there :)
Last Sunday Me and El decided to frequent Westfield’s Shopping Centre. It’s been a while since we did a trip together; it appears as though we have swapped our usual indulgences for a whole load of gym’ing, shocking! :) One thing I noticed was a micro trend of mini handbags that has found its way into high street shops. Zara, in particular, currently have a lovely little range of minuscule bags with this Mock Croc Leather piece being my favourite. How cute is this?!
Have a great day beauts, and enjoy your weekend :)
This photo seems so alien to me. Lately I’ve been wearing nothing but black (a hue that I am currently wearing, as I’m sitting here typing away; shock!) Likewise, although this photo was only taken last January, I feel as though it was a lifetime ago. I’ve been hibernating this winter and really feeling the winter blues. Hopefully the weather over the past few days is an indication of winter (finally) drawing to a close. Roll on spring, and a summer filled with lots of colour.
It’s been six whole weeks since I last blogged – how absurd! I think it’s time I checked in with you guys…
So what has 2015 brought so far? A new job! I’m not too sure if I mentioned this to you earlier but in January I was due to start a new teaching role. It’s been hectic but all good so no complaints!
Something else that’s new is my fitness regime. Taking a page out of El’s book, I started working out with her trainer and since have seen some real results. My intention isn’t to lose weight; instead, I want to tone up and keep my curves. I like mixing it up and do 4 sessions a week which include a bit of Hot Yoga, running and a whole lot of weight lifting. I’m currently in love with H&M’s sportswear selection. Here’s some pieces I’ve picked out. In the gym, I like keeping things simple, and sport a lot of grey and blacks. Shocking for a colour fanatic like me right?
Check out H&M currently sports range here
We’re a little late with our petit rendezvous over 2014. Looking back on it now though, it was such a good year for both of us. Today we simply want to thank you for continuing to follow our journey into bloggersphere. We’re looking forward to keeping you entertained this year, the next and hopefully those that will follow after that.
As always, all the best.
Happy Wednesday guys!
As you can see, I’m keeping it cool, calm and collected today in a simple pair of jeans and tee, matched with a faux fur coat and hat. The pop of colour on my nails are brightening up these grey January days and keeping me smiling for now.

Don’t mind me while I take it back to the 90s with my super long braids….
Originally I wanted to get my hair braided before heading to Berlin last week but I couldn’t find the time, what with all the festivities and all. Anyways, what do you think? I love, love, love them. They are super easy to maintain which means that I might just keep them in forever :). On another note, I hope you all had a fabulous weekend. Mine consisted of a few workouts and a whole load of lounging about. Me and El headed down to the Barbican yesterday which is always fun. We’re both back at work today after two weeks off. No rest for the wicked!
Enjoy your Monday.

For me, autumn is a time to tone down colours and work with subtleties. This reflects in my choice of daily make up where I’ve swapped my rosy palettes for bronzers, highlighters and strobe creams. Touches of glitter still add a hint of ‘girl’ to my look. My current three make up obsessions are this MAC bronzer and Strobe Cream in addition to Benefit’s Sun Beam. The trick with the strobe cream is to work it into your foundation before applying it to your skin. I like doing this on the back of my hand. Adding body warmth improves the consistency which, in turn, helps ensure that the highlighter is worked into your make up rather than looking as though it’s been plastered on top. Used sporadically, these three products add a soft, dewy glow to my skin tone; perfect for those in need of being sun kissed.
