Lace appreciation

Zara Lace Top The Coup Fashion Blog womenswear

Love the detail on this top. I’d probably pair it with colbolt bottoms, a slick, super long ponytail and bold, winged eye-liner for a subtle yet graphic look. Perhaps I’ll pick this up for my upcoming b’day celebrations… :-)

Embellished Dress

Embellished dresses are perfect for the Christmas season; you probably will have noticed more of them popping up in shops. I have quite a few embellished pieces in my wardrobe, and the number of them is growing steadily. I love a little glitz and glamour, and embellished garments really do make me feel girly.

Today, I want to share one of my pieces with you. I have so many to chose from, but after much deliberation I’ve chosen…

I wore this dress for my birthday. As there’s a lot going on in the dress, I thought it was best to keep my accessories to a minimum. You might also remember my outfit from this years LFW, where I wore an embellished skirt.

Here are a couple of other cute embellished dresses that have caught my eye. I’m loving the glitz and glamour!

Mini skirt for any season

There is a person who loves miniskirts more that me and it’s got to be Alexa Chung, any season any reason to get her pins out! Wearing a short skirt is a nice way to tell the cold to back off and liven up your Autumn look. It creates a contrast of volume when worn with a chunky knit, and balances the whole silhouette out. I have picked tweed as my go to winter fabric, you will be to wear them with any knitwear and totally couldn’t resist an occasional metallic which works great for those winter evenings when you need a bit of ‘umph’! From left to right, MSGM mini skirt, £130; Proenza Schouler tweed mini skirt, £735; Jane Norman mini, £15 (on sale); Topshop’s fluro boucle skirt, £45; Mango boucle skirt, £29.99.

Ottoman Hands

Vogues Fashion Night Out helped bring a lot of boutique designs to the forefront of Londons most prominent shopping district – Oxford Street. It was here that I first noticed Ottoman Hands – a Turkish jewellry boutique house. Those behind the Boutique select unique gems and work closely with local, skilled artisans to help refine and retain the beauty of Ottoman gems. Craftying these gems in a unique way, Ottoman Hands aims to create affordable yet one-of-a-kind exclusive pieces. With jewels that are best worn to jazz up everyday outfits, these gems promise to inject rare beauty into any outfit. My favourite pieces are these earrings; they are simplistic yet dazzlingly. I love them! Check out the res of the Ottoman Hands range here.

Trend Alert – Opulent Baroque

As one of this seasons most prominent trends, opulent baroque designs are big, bold and back. Likewise, the big boys are doing them well. Dolce and Gabbana, one of Italy’s most luxarious fashion brands, first showcased their desire to lead the ‘baroque boom’ with their dazzlingly, vibrant runway designs earlier this year during Milans Fashion Week.

You too may have seen ‘This Weeks; Spot On’ post last Wednesday; Selena Gomez looked like a dream in another baroque design that was also brought to us by D&G. With high street taking to opulent baroque, there is no reason for you not to indulge in this seasons most prominent trend. Just remember your golds, blacks, heavily embroidered designs and you are good to go!

JW Anderson does Topshop!

Did you hear? Yesterday marked the launch of JW Anderson for Topshop. The actor turned fashion designer has now joined the ranks of powerhouse designers that have previously worked with the high-street dominant including Asish, Christopher Kane and, most recently, Richard Nicoll. Staying true to his Scottish heritage, it’s all about tartan on tartan. The collection also brings Topshop its first ‘lifestyle’ capsule range which includes stationary, iPad cases and posters. With prices ranging from as little as 99p to £129, Andersons capsule collection truely does offer fashion devotees the chance to sport the lastest trends at very affordable prices.
