It’s been two years plus some since I lasted blogged and my oh my, do I miss it sometimes. I’ve been toying with the idea to pick up the Coup for a while. Like, literally, I’ve spent a whole year thinking over it. Then I considered opening up a second blog. And now, I’m back at square one. So here goes…

Let’s start with the “what happened” first. If I’m being completely honest, life happened. I finally, after years of studying for it, began my career as a History teacher which, as you can imagine, is pretty time consuming. I’d been working in education for years but no role in a school compares to being the actual classroom teacher. And then, surprise surprise, in between planning lessons, marking books and analysing data, I also found love.

In a nutshell, two wonderfully life-changing things took place and, in the midst of it, blogging took a hit. Totally unplanned of course.  It goes a little like this: you plan to write up a post, you get too busy and miss your own deadline, reschedule it, miss it again and so the cycle continues. After a while, guilt sets in. And doubt of course; that ol’ bastard! “Perhaps I should just stop blogging? Why do I even blog? I can’t think of anything to write about! ARGH!”

For those of you that follow blogs religiously or perhaps even blog yourself, this will not be news to you. Some of the most successful and established blogging entrepreneurs have gone through this. But then you get to this point, two years later, when you’re so consumed with commitments that you wonder where you let all of those little fun quirks and hobbies that made you, you go.

So I’m back. Hopefully our darling El will pop in from time to time and maybe even Mr T: who knows?! But, for now at least, I’m here to stay. And I’m hoping you are too.

Double Denim

We thought it would be fun to put a spin on an old classic and take some team photos. Denim shirt and jeans, different shapes and sizes, heels and trainers. Here’s how we each took the basics and emulated different looks.

My jeans here have a funny little story. I bought them when I was twelve years old. They were low rise flares: so hot back in 1999! Ten years later I had them tailored to have a straight leg fit. Now, six years later, I am itching to have them made into skinnies! 20130813-141917.jpgIMG_7830

Motif Mondays

There’s nothing like letting your young, quirky, fun-loving self show through your dress sense. Motif jumpers and t-shirts have been around for a little while now. I have a couple motif tops in my wardrobe but non of these pieces below. What do you think? Me, I love them all. Which one’s your favourite? Motif Modays
