New Season Shopping

Looks like we are on a steam train heading for Spring! Yay, finally! I cannot wait for the day that I can vacuum pack away all my coats and knits. Spring is a great time to add a few new items to your closet, updating it for the next season. ASOS is my ultimate favourite online store, because they make whole experience smooth and safe. I am definitely guilty of browsing their site a little bit every few days. Here is what you will find in my ‘saved items’…I might just press the order button…

My Watch Story

The Coup Watch Michael Kors Swatch Skin Invaluable

Time; what a concept. It has always amazed me how younger generations spend their days wishing away their adolescence  while adults try to hold on to it with the same conviction. Thinking about it, it’s quite bizarre, no?

For me, timepieces are important and with the variety available on the market, nowadays they can be as beautiful as they are practical. My jewellery stand is adorned with roughly ten watches. You may say that that’s not a lot you say but for a person that gets a certain level of satisfaction from not being a hoarder, we can say that a score is a fair few.

About 2 weeks ago, we at The Coup were approached by Invaluable, the World’s largest online auction place. They wanted to know the story behind our favourite timepieces and, likewise, if  they held any sentimental value? This got me thinking.

I like all my watches but choosing my favourite was not as easy as I expected it to be. I can settle on two that I like and, although they couldn’t be further afield in terms of style, they do have one thing in common. Strangely enough, both were purchased abroad. Perhaps it’s the fact that they transport me to that happy, zen-like mood you typically feel whilst holidaying; I don’t know.

The Coup Watch Invaluable Michael KorsThe first one is my classic Michael Kors ; bought in Germany exactly two years ago to the month. I doubt any of you will be surprised that this watch has made it into my favourite two. I was once told that there are 3 things a woman should own. I won’t disclose what all three items were but a classic MK watch did top the list. It makes a statement whilst keeping it classy to say the least.

A tad more peculiar in style, however, is my favourite; my SKIN Swatch watch. This was also purchased abroad; in Geneva, Switzerland, to be exact. I imagine that this choice will strike you, it took me by surprise too, but in all honesty, this is the one that I opt to wear almost everyday. Perhaps it’s its understated delicacy that does it for me. Or maybe, it’s the fact its comfort, alongside its character and quirkiness,  ticks the right boxes. Who knows but then again who cares? I like it and that’s all that matters right? Right.

Casual Sundays

Happy Sunday!

Some extra pics from Friday’s sneaker shot as promised. True to the name of this post I kept it casual, threw on a plain long sleeve tee and a light bomber coat paired with boyfriend jeans. SNUG! On another note, I hope you guys are having a great weekend. So far mine has been pretty cosy. I gym’d it on Friday night and again yesterday, which was an absolute killer! Me and El had a 2 hour session with our personal trainer. It was so hard but so, so good! I’m paying for it now though…

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and Happy International Women’s Day to each and every single one of you ladies out there :)

Spring in my step

Nike Air Max Ones Orange Navy The Coup blog.jpg

The best thing about March – spring! Like clockwork, I have already found myself wearing lighter colours. Say hello to my newest pair of Nike Air Max Ones, gifted to me by a good friend last Christmas. Nothing quite beats colourful footwear when it comes to adding a spring to your step.

I’ll show you the rest of my outfit next week. For now, have an awesome weekend!

I Want | Mock Croc

Last Sunday Me and El decided to frequent Westfield’s Shopping Centre. It’s been a while since we did a trip together; it appears as though we have swapped our usual indulgences for a whole load of gym’ing, shocking! :) One thing I noticed was a micro trend of mini handbags that has found its way into high street shops. Zara, in particular, currently have a lovely little range of minuscule bags with this Mock Croc Leather piece being my favourite. How cute is this?!

Half Moon Magic by Le Specs

IMG_2145

You know I have been into cat eye sunglasses for a while now, and since my last post about it, i purchased this lovely pair from Le Specs. This Australian brand was founded in the 70’s and relaunched in 2006 with designs inspired by street style in New York and Stockholm. Le Specs sunnies have taken industry by storm and gained a massive celebrity and blogger following. But i can see why, these sunglasses are so much fun, well made and offer great style at very affordable price. Slightly on the large size, super black, polished acetate frame adds a lovely lux touch to any outfit. Now all I need is for sun to come out so I can take these babies out to play!

Black Tied – MAC

Who could resist a little sparkle? Black Tied by MAC is the only eyeshadow I wear, and I do so religiously. I’m not really an eyeshadow person, I usually just stick to liquid liner, but I love adding a touch of this glittery black to the edge of my lids. Alongside a touch of highlighter underneath the brows, it’s the perfect transitional combination for a subtle day and night look MAC eyeshadow black tied the coup london fashion style lifestyle blog

New Hair

The braids are officially gone! Well, they actually went a little while ago. I do enjoy the versatility of adding extensions and trying out new looks every so often but I’m considering keeping it natural for a little while. I have a lot of layers in my hair so curls hold and last for ages. Say hello to classy, chic Adiyam. For now, she’s here to stay…New Hair The Coup Blog

Postcards from Berlin

This last photo makes me laugh! The hat and gloves I packed did nothing to keep me warm so I made a stop at a memorabilia shop and bought this little ‘I Love Berlin’ combo :). Honestly, I must be Berlin’s biggest fan. There is something about this city that makes me feel so at home. In reflection, I should have taken more photos but, as you can see, it was just too cold to keep stopping. For those of you planning a trip, definitely check out the museums. I’m a history buff and Berlin has tons to keep you occupied with but the Jewish Museum is, by far, the most moving. A visit to the Reichstag is a must as are the numerous sight / memorial spots around the city. The nightlife is pretty cool; check out the many bars / clubs East Berlin has to offer – that’s the spot! There are tons of great places to let your hair down; Berghain Bar, Watergate, Club Gretchen are places I’d recommend.  Aah Berlin, I hope to see you soon.

TBT – Colour Pop

January 2015 adiyam the coup london fashion blogJanuary 2014

This photo seems so alien to me. Lately I’ve been wearing nothing but black (a hue that I am currently wearing, as I’m sitting here typing away; shock!) Likewise, although this photo was only taken last January, I feel as though it was a lifetime ago. I’ve been hibernating this winter and really feeling the winter blues. Hopefully the weather over the past few days is an indication of winter (finally) drawing to a close. Roll on spring, and a summer filled with lots of colour.

Six weeks later…

Fitness HM The coup Fashion blog london adiyam elena 2015

It’s been six whole weeks since I last blogged – how absurd! I think it’s time I checked in with you guys…

So what has 2015 brought so far? A new job! I’m not too sure if I mentioned this to you earlier but in January I was due to start a new teaching role. It’s been hectic but all good so no complaints!

Something else that’s new is my fitness regime. Taking a page out of El’s book, I started working out with her trainer and since have seen some real results. My intention isn’t to lose weight; instead, I want to tone up and keep my curves. I like mixing it up and do 4 sessions a week which include a bit of Hot Yoga, running and a whole lot of weight lifting. I’m currently in love with H&M’s sportswear selection. Here’s some pieces I’ve picked out. In the gym, I like keeping things simple, and sport a lot of grey and blacks. Shocking for a colour fanatic like me right?

PelloBello Fuzzies

pellobello_fur_jacket

I have seen a number of fashion bloggers wear these PelloBello fuzzy beauties. Aren’t they gorgeous?
It’s hard to find a good furry coat for a good price and these seem to tick both boxes. PelloBello coats are made to order and shipped from Sweden. What’s even better is that they come in short and long versions plus a lovely colour palate to choose from.
