Over the past 6 months, fitness has become a big part of my life. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve always loved working up a sweat but in between studying and running a f/t job, committing to a work routine just wasn’t feasible. Since finishing uni last year however, it was the next thing on my ever growing ‘to-do’ list. Last Wednesday I forgot to pack my usual leggings so I popped into the shops en route the gym. I was pleasantly surprised to find a number of ladies shorts now available so I picked up these instead. I’ve always been one to get my pins out when possible. Next on my list? Those abs.
The braids are officially gone! Well, they actually went a little while ago. I do enjoy the versatility of adding extensions and trying out new looks every so often but I’m considering keeping it natural for a little while. I have a lot of layers in my hair so curls hold and last for ages. Say hello to classy, chic Adiyam. For now, she’s here to stay…
Postcards from Berlin
This last photo makes me laugh! The hat and gloves I packed did nothing to keep me warm so I made a stop at a memorabilia shop and bought this little ‘I Love Berlin’ combo :). Honestly, I must be Berlin’s biggest fan. There is something about this city that makes me feel so at home. In reflection, I should have taken more photos but, as you can see, it was just too cold to keep stopping. For those of you planning a trip, definitely check out the museums. I’m a history buff and Berlin has tons to keep you occupied with but the Jewish Museum is, by far, the most moving. A visit to the Reichstag is a must as are the numerous sight / memorial spots around the city. The nightlife is pretty cool; check out the many bars / clubs East Berlin has to offer – that’s the spot! There are tons of great places to let your hair down; Berghain Bar, Watergate, Club Gretchen are places I’d recommend. Aah Berlin, I hope to see you soon.
Last week I spent my first New Years abroad in Berlin, a city I fall more and more in love with each time I visit. Me and one of my girls thought it would be fun to head there for four days. Both of us had already been back in 2013 so there was no added pressure of things to do / see. We just soaked up the city which looked even more surreal in the snow, just like a Winter Wonderland. I snapped the above shot on my iPhone 6. It’s probably my favourite shot but I’ll give you more snaps from my proper camera sometime next week.
Hi all! When it comes to my hair, I have never been a girl who spends hours and hours on styling, nor have I been very good at experimenting with braids, bows and frills.
I was born with very fine hair and not a lot of it, which is why I like to blow dry it fluffy and wear it down, to create an illusion of fullness. Having always loved less is more approach – curling my hair into soft beachy waves is probably the most I ever spend on it.
Here is the guide to my ultimate favourite hair care products:
Richard Ward Keratin Styling Spray – sprayed on when hair is damp, followed by the blow dry this gives my hair enough product to style it with ease. I especially love to use it when I am curling my hair as it makes waves hold shape for hours.
Schwarzkopf Essence Ultime Omega Repair BB Beauty Balm – my hair is superfine in texture and I have a lot of fly-away hairs, if I want to wear my hair straight I smooth this balm when hair is damp. This product give it a lovely shine without weighing hair down.
Percy & Reed Finishing Polish – this product works similar to the one to the left, but i like to apply this to tame fly-away hairs when I have finished the blow dry. This is a little heavy, so perfect for windy or damp days that need a bit more hair control.
Bumble and Bumble Thickening Hairspray – sprayed over wet hair this is the master of all volume hairsprays. My hair has never been bigger.
John Frieda Frizz-Ease Hair Serum – For about two years I have been coloring my hair to achieve that popular ombre look, so you can imagine what all the bleach has done to my ends! Even though my hair texture is fine, I bought this product for ‘medium to coarse hair’, I like how rich this serum feels and sometimes this is exactly the boost of moisture that my dry ends need.
Avlon KeraCare Essential Oils for the hair – this is a similar product to John Frieda but even more intense. It revitalizes chemically processed hair. I like to apply quite a bit to my ends when i don’t mind looking greasy, when i wash this product off my hair gleams with health!
L’oreal Elvive New Extraordinary Oil – this is one product that I use every single day. It is very light and putting too much on is almost impossible. It gives my hair a lovely shine, lightly scented it makes my tresses super soft. I simply cannot live without it!
Oh what fun we’ve had! On Saturday The Coup headed to Paris. 8 hours packed with culture, food and sunshine! Since we’ve both been to the city before we decided to take it easy and absorb the quiet side of Paris.
We arrived early in the morning and headed straight to breakfast. Happy to find Holybelly open for service. Very good food and even better coffee! Fueled by pancakes with fruit we headed to Gallery Perrotin to see exhibition curated by Pharrell ‘G I R L’. This has been a hot item of my list of things to do and it did not disappoint. Plenty of thought provoking art as well as a few very fun pieces that made us feel… happy!
By midday it was getting hot and steamy in Paris so we took a well deserved break at Place des Vosges followed by a refreshing snack of oysters at Le Bar a Huitres.
By the time we got to Cathedral Notre Dame it was time to go home, back to London…The day was perfect, I would not change a thing!
Good bye Paris, we will be back!
This quiet Saturday morning I am indulging in a little online shopping. Looking for a new iPhone case, i just can’t decide between these two! Both feature gorgeous hand-painted vintage roses. They remind me of Khokhloma, traditional Russian wood painting, known for vivid flowers. I just can’t help going back to the roots!
Please help me choose! which one do you like best?
Perfume has got to be one of the hardest thing to buy for someone, but this little bottle above, gifted to me by my partner in crime Adi, has quickly made it into a list of my favourite scents. Powdery and intimate, it’s just light enough to have a subtle presence. Sarah Jessica Parker’s first signature scent ‘Lovely’ is a lovely (couldn’t help it) addition to my dressing table. Thank you, A!
