Half Moon studs

Accessorize_half_moon_earrings_the_coup_blog copyI am not quite sure where my fascination with moon and stars comes from. I remember spending quite a lot of time gazing into the starry sky as a little girl, whether it was out of my bedroom window in St Petersburg or school dorm in Scotland… it was beautiful and calming, I could look at it for hours!

If you have been following The Coup for a while you would have seen me choosing gorgeous night sky inspired pieces here and there. These Accessorize studs are my latest purchase. They are very petite, but add a lovely sparkle.

Comeback Season: Orange is the new black!

Better late than never but never late is better I know, but, ‘it’s been a while’ is an understatement! The good girls here at the Coup have done a sterling job keeping you Coups and Coupettes up to date and ahead in this wonderful world we call Fashion. However, just as the old seasons fade and the new ones bloom, I’m back to brighten up the days.

Although I’ve been away, the shopping never stops! On many occasions, I tried and tried and tried to resist temptation and stay clear of the high street. It worked, until I saw this black velvet two tone bomber jacket with leather sleeves from Zara.

IMG_4849[1]

It was paid for and packaged (all in my head) before I had even tried it on! It was a ‘must have’ as soon as saw it.

I wore a pair of black ripped skinny jeans from Zara to compliment the bomber jacket.

Now finding these Orange Patrick Mohr Kx1 (sold out everywhere) trainers was like trying to mine gold in England. Search upon search, avenue upon avenue and one lead after the other, I kept coming up with nothing. I finally got my hands on a pair and parted with a lot of my money but it was money well spent! Last but not least, I accessorized with a Michael Kors  black chronograph silicone strap watch.

Spell It Out

alphabet_necklace_lettering_h&m_gold_1I have finally caved in and got myself a gold necklace. But not just any necklace, a one with a twist! No more agonising over what word best represents you and how you are feeling. With this golden alphabet from H&M, every day you can spell it out.

Cover me in jewels

skinnydip_london_Byzanthium_Perspex_Embellished_ClutchHere is a sneak preview of my new Byzanthium perspex embellished clutch by Skinnydip London.

A few weeks ago I have attended a very fancy event with dress code – cobalt blue. Skinnydip London clutch was the perfect accessory for the night! Not only that this arm candy is a very generous size,  it was also bedazzled to the max, which meant I could go easy on the jewellery.

Watch this space for my full outfit for the night. Ta-ta!

Valentine’s Wishlist

THE_COUP_VALENTINE_WISHLIST

One thing that works for any occasion and says ‘I am thinking about you’ is always a gift of jewellery. This wishlist is certainly better than guessing your special lady’s underwear or shoe size.

Top, clockwise from Pandora pink blossom ring; Thomas Sabo feather ring; Swarovski rhodium-plated and rose gold-plated Rare rings.

WATCHES

Watches from left to right, Olivia Burton midi dial bracelet watch in rose gold; Daniel Wellington Classy Sheffield watch also in rose gold; Marc Jacobs Baker 28mm watch.

I don’t know about you guys but I am the kind of person whom doesn’t like to make a fuss about Valentine’s day, yet if it’s left completely ignored, I would be secretly disappointed.

You can’t deny that its always lovely to have an opportunity to spend some quality time with your special someone. Do something that will make them smile. Single, taken or ‘complicated’, I hope you all have a fabulous Valentine’s Day!

Hey Livi!

IMG_3355Nothing beats a good ol’ watch. Practical, purposeful and (bonus!!) pretty as hell when it’s made by British brand Olivia Burton London .

I first ‘clocked’ this watch (gedd’it?!) about a week ago on fellow Kenzas’ blog. As an avid watch-wearer I have a decent collection that seems to be growing in size swiftly. I’ll give you a sneak peak some time soon. For now though, say hello to my latest addition…

IMG_33821

White leather combined with rose gold to emulate a timeless, vintage look. For me, the combination is simply stunning. And… a perfect transitional summer piece. What d’ya think? I think I’ll be putting Michael aside for the next few weeks!

Trend Alert – Stacks on Stacks

IMG_1855

Stacking gold rings have by far been my favourite micro trend of 2013, so much so that they have become a staple addition of mine. I recently bought a few cute ring sets from H&M as you can see in the above photo. If you’re looking to invest in some stacking rings, I suggest you get these, these and these from Hennes. Then mix n match your favourite pieces. The possibilities are endless!

Wild Zebra

jennings-larrson-swedish-british-zebra-leather-fashion-watcI love a good watch. For me wearing a watch is a must with every outfit. Often they are all too hard to find but I’m seriously lusting after this stunning Larsson and Jennings creation. Aptly named Wild Zebra, this one is part of the limited edition Safari Series. To buy or not to buy…!

Outfit – White Gold

IMG_0174 The gold rush is back and I’ve found my treasure! It’s been a while since I last donned some neck pieces but the urge is back and the word id GOLD.IMG_0180

As I’ve said before, every well dressed man should always wear a watch, but that watch needn’t put a dent your pocket. I opted to go with a classic piece for this outfit and wore a Casio watch. Cheap and cheerful, ever so reliable and always fashionable.
IMG_0186

I’ve got an addiction for crisp, clean looks and I’m a fiend for a plain white shirt. Modeling this textured cotton slim fit shirt from Zara has left me feeling so fresh and so clean. Blurred Lines seems to be the summer anthem but thankfully I can’t relate because I have on my 3D spectacles making my views spec-tacular. I simply removed the lenses and Bobs your uncle……. you know the rest. 2 Chainz isn’t the only person with 2 chains (although there’s hardly a comparison in size and in price) as I too have one neck and 2 chains. Bought from ebay, they’re the best buy, accessory wise, for me this summer.
IMG_0189 This is a Zara inspired outfit as I’m decked out from head to toe in their merchandise (they should really start paying me!). Playing it safe, I’m wearing black circular trousers.
IMG_0208 IMG_0217 IMG_0232 IMG_0237These are the latest addition to my shoe collection. Black Monk strap shoes from Zara. Unfortunately no monk-like behavior resulted from wearing these, although, the only meditation I wanted to practice, was being at one with some laminate flooring, shuffling from side to side underneath a disco ball.

Ctrl, over and OUT!

I’m wearing;

White textured shirt (old but similar) – Zara

Black circular trousers – Zara

Black monk strap shoe (old but similar) – Zara

Gold Casio A159WGE watch (old but similar) – Casio

Gold snake link chain – ebay

Orelia Jewellery Designs

Gold Small Jewellery Designs by Orelia

Last Friday, hoping to find an outfit for that evening, I made a flying visit to Topshop in Oxford Circus. Having chosen a cute outfit, I ran upstairs to the bedazzling section – better known as the jewellery dept. – to find some pieces that would help jazz up my little combi. Now, one thing I love about Topshop is their love and passion for promoting smaller concessions by stocking their designs and giving them the opportunity to reach a wider market. The British brand Orelia is a fine example of this, and their pieces are divine. Focusing on petit jewellery designs that come in both gold and silver, Orelia pieces are perfect for adding a small yet substantial addition to any outfit. These are some pieces that caught my eye during my trip last Friday – the Hayden necklace being my absolute favourite!

Above pieces: Payson Earrings; Cameron Earrings; Hayden NecklaceHeart Ring 2 Pack; Layla Ring Set;

Neon Jewels

neon_jewellery_topshop_next_the_coup2Looks like Neon – 2012 trend that is hard to ignore, is here to stay with us a little longer. Only until I started writing this post I have realised that perhaps I have a mini obsession, because all of the jewellery pieces bought since Christmas, happened to be neon!
Above, is the set I got for Christmas from my best friend. Below, Topshop necklace and pink earrings from Next.
neon_jewellery_topshop_next_the_coupWith spring days fast approaching, these zingy items are a super fun way to add some colour! Here is what’s out on the high-street right now.

We have blogged a lot about things we want or need, but the most treasured items I already have. Here I want to share with you my most precious pieces of jewellery. Given to me by different people, at different times of my life, I hope to never part with these!

Trend Alert: Ear Cuffs

Lara-Bingle-Wearing-Black-Camilla-and-Marc-Jumpsuit-At-Caulfield-Cup-Day-1
Everyone who knows me can tell you that I am obsessed with earrings. My vast collection consists of anything from elegant studs to feathers, spikes and crystals. I always need to make sure I have a range of metals and colours to choose from to suit my mood and the look I am going for, so you can imagine how excited I am about this Ear Cuff trend. A few weeks ago Australian model Lara Bingel, above, wore a stunning piece by Sarina Sariano. Both tough and pretty it totally rocked! IMG_7057
As someone who shied away from having more than one piercing per ear, ear cuffs and ear shields are a superb way to achieve this look. I have bought all of the above ear cuffs from Topshop, cant wait for the party season to start so I can show them off!
