Noir Extreme by Tom Ford

Tom Ford Noir The CoupNoir Extreme by Tom Ford

It’s been a relatively quiet month in just about every way possible, even shopping wise. I did, however, recently add Noir Extreme by Tom Ford to my beauty bag. Thankfully all of Mr. Ford’s fragrances are unisex. I’ve always been a fan of the original Noir, which was released back in 2012. On a recent trip to Germany, I was planning to pick up a bottle when I came across his latest release. Such a beautiful fragrance, comprised of sweet yet musky amber and oaky scents. I highly recommend it, whether it’s for you or your significant beau :)

Black Tied – MAC

Who could resist a little sparkle? Black Tied by MAC is the only eyeshadow I wear, and I do so religiously. I’m not really an eyeshadow person, I usually just stick to liquid liner, but I love adding a touch of this glittery black to the edge of my lids. Alongside a touch of highlighter underneath the brows, it’s the perfect transitional combination for a subtle day and night look MAC eyeshadow black tied the coup london fashion style lifestyle blog

Winter Hair

Winter braids the coup adiyam fashion blog london

Don’t mind me while I take it back to the 90s with my super long braids….

Originally I wanted to get my hair braided before heading to Berlin last week but I couldn’t find the time, what with all the festivities and all. Anyways, what do you think? I love, love, love them. They are super easy to maintain which means that I might just keep them in forever :). On another note, I hope you all had a fabulous weekend. Mine consisted of a few workouts and a whole load of lounging about. Me and El headed down to the Barbican yesterday which is always fun. We’re both back at work today after two weeks off. No rest for the wicked!

Enjoy your Monday.

Hope you had a lovely festive break

Autumnal Essentials – Make Up

make up the coup fashion mac cosmetics benefitFor me, autumn is a time to tone down colours and work with subtleties. This reflects in my choice of daily make up where I’ve swapped my rosy palettes for bronzers, highlighters and strobe creams. Touches of glitter still add a hint of ‘girl’ to my look. My current three make up obsessions are this MAC bronzer and Strobe Cream in addition to Benefit’s Sun Beam. The trick with the strobe cream is to work it into your foundation before applying it to your skin. I like doing this on the back of my hand. Adding body warmth improves the consistency which, in turn, helps ensure that the highlighter is worked into your make up rather than looking as though it’s been plastered on top. Used sporadically, these three products add a soft, dewy glow to my skin tone; perfect for those in need of being sun kissed.

Hairfinity

Hairfinity hair supplement review the coup team coup london fashion bloghairfinity resized

With celebrities such as Kim Kardashian West publicly endorsing their use of the hair vitamin, Hairfinity, these two tablets have been causing quite a stir. Wanting to see if the results of this product held any truth, I accepted a year long challenge on my birthday (all the easier for remembering) and vowed to stick by taking the supplement, day in day out, with the hope of seeing an improvement in the state of mane. I must admit, my hair in its natural state is pretty good. As a youngster, it was long, healthy and happy (yes happy). So for me, my aim was to get my hair back to its natural state. I’ve never been one to relax my hair but years of straightening along with being a workaholic has not been good. After six months of taking Hairfinity, I must say I’m impressed. My hair is longer but, most importantly, it is healthier. I have less breakage (practically non) and it’s gleaming with shine. So, so far, so good. If you’re thinking of trying it out I really suggest you do. It’s £30 for a bottle which will last you a month and you can buy it on the official Hairfinity website here. I’m sure I’ll be taking these supplements for a long, long time.Adiyam_signature_the_coup

Fine Hair – My Top Products

the_coup_hair_careHi all! When it comes to my hair, I have never been a girl who spends hours and hours on styling, nor have I been very good at experimenting with braids, bows and frills.

I was born with very fine hair and not a lot of it, which is why I like to blow dry it fluffy and wear it down, to create an illusion of fullness. Having always loved less is more approach – curling my hair into soft beachy waves is probably the most I ever spend on it.

Here is the guide to my ultimate favourite hair care products:

haircare_2_the_coup_blog

Richard Ward Keratin Styling Spray – sprayed on when hair is damp, followed by the blow dry this gives my hair enough product to style it with ease. I especially love to use it when I am curling my hair as it makes waves hold shape for hours.

Schwarzkopf Essence Ultime Omega Repair BB Beauty Balm – my hair is superfine in texture and I have a lot of fly-away hairs, if I want to wear my hair straight I smooth this balm when hair is damp. This product give it a lovely shine without weighing hair down.

Percy & Reed Finishing Polish – this product works similar to the one to the left, but i like to apply this to tame fly-away hairs when I have finished the blow dry. This is a little heavy, so perfect for windy or damp days that need a bit more hair control.

Bumble and Bumble Thickening Hairspray – sprayed over wet hair this is the master of all volume hairsprays. My hair has never been bigger.

haircare_the_coup_blog

John Frieda Frizz-Ease Hair Serum – For about two years I have been coloring my hair to achieve that popular ombre look, so you can imagine what all the bleach has done to my ends! Even though my hair texture is fine, I bought this product for ‘medium to coarse hair’, I like how rich this serum feels and sometimes this is exactly the boost of moisture that my dry ends need.

Avlon KeraCare Essential Oils for the hair – this is a similar product to John Frieda but even more intense. It revitalizes chemically processed hair. I like to apply quite a bit to my ends when i don’t mind looking greasy, when i wash this product off my hair gleams with health!

L’oreal Elvive New Extraordinary Oil – this is one product that I use every single day. It is very light and putting too much on is almost impossible. It gives my hair a lovely shine, lightly scented it makes my tresses super soft. I simply cannot live without it!

IMG_5901EditHaving a sister that’s a beauty therapist is quite a treat. On Sunday’s I usually have all my treatments done in the comfort of my own home. This week she convinced me to step out of my comfort zone and try something a little out there. Well at least for me. This gel polish by Bluesky, which has aptly been called Frosty Forest, is uber cute. Years ago I use to use Calgel on my nails but after discovering shellacs that’s all I ever go for. They are so convenient, not too harsh and can easily be applied independently.

#twentysix

20140523-233951.jpgAs weird as it may sound, I never thought I’d hit the 25+ category. As the youngest of four I just never envisaged growing up, nor did I ever feel the pressure to be massively responsible. It’s a funny but totally honest thought. A few years back, I remember asking El if she wanted to go clubbing one Saturday night. Her response, which went something like ‘darling when you hit 26 you just won’t want to hit the raves anymore,’ has recently hit a note although at the time I probably dismissed it. Most people dread getting older but, personally, it doesn’t haunt me. I feel much more comfortable in my skin, know exactly what I want to achieve in life and feel no need to conform to the ideals of others. And if that’s how 26 feels, I can only look forward to what the future holds right?

Miss Dior

IMG_5780Gifts. Giving, receiving; I love the whole escapade. Over the years my friends have always told me that I’m an impossible person to buy for, largely because if I want something I often just buy it. No surprises there…! I’ve also never been one to tell people what I want. I much prefer people choosing something that they think I’d like, for I believe gifts are indicative of both how me and our bond is perceived. Gifts should also enlighten you that little bit by being things you’d love but never think to choose for yourself. My Miss Dior fragrance is a prime example of this. It was gifted to me last Christmas by my two older brothers. Until then, although I had heard a ton of good natters about it, I had never smelled it. Since, however, it has become one of my favourite scents… Thank you boys!

Viva Glam

IMG_5763Evidence of a good weekend! Ah this weekend was so good. For the first time in a while I feel as though I made the most of every single bit of it, starting with dinner and drinks in Camden with El on Friday night. I even managed to squeeze a little shopping in too. The new MAC studio in St Pancras has been dangerous for me, largely because I walk past it about 5 times a week. This Saturday morning I picked up a couple of red lipsticks and nude blushers, including this beautiful shade in the Viva Glam range. This colour was crafted in collaboration with Rihanna and I honestly didn’t think it would be such a good shade. Topped up with its partner lipgloss it’s a dream. So much so that on Saturday night, I changed my whole outfit at the last minute just so I could wear it. Love, love, love!

Lovely

Perfume has got to be one of the hardest thing to buy for someone, but this little bottle above, gifted to me by my partner in crime Adi, has quickly made it into a list of my favourite scents. Powdery and intimate, it’s just light enough to have a subtle presence. Sarah Jessica Parker’s first signature scent ‘Lovely’ is a lovely (couldn’t help it) addition to my dressing table. Thank you, A!

Nothing wakes up a tired face faster than subtle shimmer. These are my go to products when I need a little pick me up.

Mac blusher, has just enough sparkle for daytime and it’s soft pink tone is perfect for pale skin. Bobby Brown lip gloss with it’s sheer brightening formula creates an illusion of bigger lips and The Body Shop shimmer cube palette has four subtle iridescent shades to mix and match, perfect if you want to create a wide-eyed look.
