The Coup goes to Paris

Oh what fun we’ve had! On Saturday The Coup headed to Paris. 8 hours packed with culture, food and sunshine! Since we’ve both been to the city before we decided to take it easy and absorb the quiet side of Paris.

We arrived early in the morning and headed straight to breakfast. Happy to find Holybelly open for service. Very good food and even better coffee! Fueled by pancakes with fruit we headed to Gallery Perrotin to see exhibition curated by Pharrell ‘G I R L’. This has been a hot item of my list of things to do and it did not disappoint. Plenty of thought provoking art as well as a few very fun pieces that made us feel… happy!

By midday it was getting hot and steamy in Paris so we took a well deserved break at Place des Vosges followed by a refreshing snack of oysters at Le Bar a Huitres.

By the time we got to Cathedral Notre Dame it was time to go home, back to London…The day was perfect, I would not change a thing!

Good bye Paris, we will be back!

Lots of love,

Happy Birthday Team!!

Yup, you guessed it. Our beloved blog is officially one years old!

Happy Birthday Team Coup

We’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support. It’s been a fun yet turbulent year. Back in 2012, we started off with two girls, a huge passion for all things fashion and a desire to create a fun, online fashion scrapbook. Together we went to London Fashion Weekend, blogged about ‘things that made us go ooh‘ and gave you a little ‘outfit inspiration‘ here and there. We also had a new addition to our team and, just like that, our little family of fashionistas was made complete. We’re so excited about what the future holds for our blog and so thankful to have you on board. So here’s to a prosperous future, for both us and you!

We're BackWe must apologise for leaving you hanging this long. Although we do our best to update The Coup as often as possible, life has been nothing short of crazy over the past two months. But now it’s with great pleasure that we are back in action, and boy oh boy have we got some great stuff in store for you?! Join us for the ride, either here on our website or on Bloglovin’, Facebook, Instagram (search “Team Coup”), and Twitter. We look forward to having you on board!

Team Coup

Today I am wearing…

fashion_look_bnw_pairing_zara_bootsToday I have decided to go for my favourite black and white combination. This new Villa white leather skirt is perfect item to start working around, black studded Zara ankle boots, Primark studded clutch and ‘urban ears’ to keep warm as well as delivering tunes while en route work…and I’m done!

Mirror Mirror: London Fashion Weekend

As girls behind The Coup, we’ve decided to share what we wore to London Fashion Weekend with you. Here goes!

With so many ‘hot’ trends around this fall, we thought that it was best to hit Westfield Shopping Centre and let the shops inspire our look for London Fashion Weekend. Zara, Pull and Bear, Mango; there were so many shops to choose from, but in the end I had to go for this ‘Casual Luxe’ combo that I put together in Topshop.

I dolled up my comfy, casual knit with this heavily embellished sequinned skirt.  As there was quite a bit going on with the sequins, it was only right that I neutralised my look with a pair of nude coloured stiletto heels. My jewellery was a concoction of Swarovski crystals, Gucci, Links of London and beautiful beads, straight from India. Chic, comfy yet luxurious; how could I resist?

Items: Knitted Rib Clean Jumper, £38; Silver Sequin Mini Skirt, £45; Romelia, £70; Gerke, £40; Swarovski Tennis Bracelet, £98; Gucci Bracelet with Boule Chain, £125; Gucci Necklace with Boule Chain and Toggle Closure, £170 Swarovski Ring – old.

As one who loves black, it’s no surprise that it was the first colour I reached for when choosing my outfit. So, for an afternoon at Somerset House I centered my look around my Oasis faux leather mini skirt. I paired it with a black satin vest, long waterfall coat from River Island and accessorized with gorgeous leopard pumps and a matching mini messenger bag. As for jewellery, I kept it minimal with a gold bangle and one gold ring. With red lips and nails to match –  it was classic shade for a classic style! It was simple look but the difference in textures is what made it work for me.

Items: Oasis faux leather ‘Harper’ flippy skirt, £40Oasis vest, £20Zara animal print medium heels, £49.99Zara mini fake fur messanger bag, £29.99; H&M bangle, similar one here, £4.99; Gold ring- vintage.

Added to my wardrobe: Autumn Pumps

Two new additions to my shoe collection-absolute must have pumps for this season. Leopard print with velvet toe, I can’t live without, from Oasis (£35) and a Dynamo slipper from Miss Selfridge (£30),  all over studs and small black heat. These two are super versatile, whether its to complement a day outfit, or for an easy relaxed night time look. I am sure pay-per-wear will be totally justified with these pairs!

It’s in the Bag!

This weekend has been a very good shopping one -I have left with a bargain and a treat! I would like to say that I am a very organised shopper, never buy on impulse and always think about items for a while before going for it. There is no point of owning something that just lives in your closet, every piece deserves to see the day light…or moon night. And it feels just so much better when you spend your money on something that you absolutely love!

These heels were on my mind for a while. I have passed Kurt Geiger shops many many times, seeing them on a shelf, but this weekend I have taken the further step and tried them on. Once I did there was no going back! Unbelievably comfortable pair of heels is a must have, especially when they look so cute! Snake print is super hot for this season so that’s a double whammy, Im a happy girl!

This Aldo bag has reminded me of the time in Rome, this spring, when I stood in front of Valentino boutique, drooling at their new collection. They had a number of studded totes and purses and if you have been reading this blog for a while you know how I feel about studs! Unfortunately with prices from £1600 for a medium sized bag,  there was no way to justify it. But once I saw this one, I couldn’t resist!

Aldo ‘Saurel’ studded detail satchel, £50 and Carvela Kurt Geiger ‘Arietta’ leather and suede heels £45 (originally £110).

50 shades of….

No not Gray, that was so last season! I’m talking colour pop denim. Summer’s the only time of year that you can really get away with wearing bright and bold colours, with no one assuming you’re a little ‘colourful’ in more ways than one! A few weeks back we brought you colour pop watches, now we’re bringing you colour pop denim. And I’m loving this summer collection by Ralph Lauren! Go on, try something new today. I dare you!

Kimono Love

Kimono Style.
This season designers looked at The East for inspiration. We will see a lot of oriental elements here and there, however the best product of it all are Kimonos. I tend to post a lot about this piece of clothing, but with flared sleeves, opulent print, silky feel- what’s not to love about kimonos. Throw them over a simple vest and jeans and your ready to go!
